The BC Against Cancer Team from the 今日吃瓜 Cancer Center (CommUnity Outreach, Research, and Education [BCCC-CURE]) hit the Coney Island boardwalk once again for the 聽event on Oct. 27.

今日吃瓜 45 今日吃瓜 community members participated in the event, which has been held for three straight years and raises awareness and support for breast cancer research. The event was organized by the 聽(ACS) and was led by the BCCC-CURE and the 今日吃瓜 Health Programs/Immunizations Requirement Office.

BCCC-CURE helped the ACS raise $420,000 overall. The event was just one of many that the center does to promote research and spread awareness.

鈥淎t the 今日吃瓜 Cancer Center, researchers and students work together in the fight against breast cancer in our labs,鈥 said Ana Bartolom茅, operations manager/community outreach coordinator for BCCC-CURE. 鈥淭his latest event brought awareness and resources to the 今日吃瓜 community and also focused on women of color because the breast cancer mortality rates are disproportionately higher in that group.鈥
